Our History

SABCO Group of Enterprises (Formerly known as Star Bottles Group) is a family owned holders of manufacturing and trading companies based in Thrissur, Kerala. SABCO Group now owns or has stakes in sixteen firm’s which comprise manufacturing/trading/service providing sectors with a total work force of more than three hundred employees.

The Star Bottles and Glassware Stores being the first venture of this Group was founded in the year 1967 by Mr. C.S. Abdul Rahiman, a member of the Chirakuzhi Family of Nattika. 1967 – It was the time when the Middle East had not become a lucrative as today. Ceylon and Burma were the choice then and Mr. Abdul Rahiman was trying to make a good living in Ceylon while his wife was away in India. His father in law, Mr. V.A. Mohammed, however, was not comfortable with the way things were. So, he took initiative to get Mr. Abdul Rahiman back to India and advised him to settle down in Thrissur, a town well known for trading business in Kerala. In this back ground, in the year 1967, Mr. Abdul Rahiman started the STAR BOTTLES AND GLASSWARE STORES in a rented building along the Railway station Road in Thrissur Town.

Even though the initial period of about three years of establishing the business was tough for Mr. Rahiman, it turned out to be the start of successful journey in business for his family.

The Star Bottles and Glassware Stores has been expanding the activities and in 1971 started supplies to Pharmaceutical Companies. While the business was steadily progressing, Mr. Rahiman blessed with five sons and three daughters and in time, the sons started to take active role in business.

In 1984, the Company took over a sick plastic industry and thus forayed into the manufacture of plastic containers.

At the time of the demise of Mr. Abdul Rahiman in 1998, the Group had expanded enviably very well and the Star Bottle Group had five Companies, viz., Star Bottles and Glassware Stores, Crockery Palace, star Packagings, Starline Agencies and Star Chemicals, under its banner.

In 1999, In memory of Mr. Abdul Rahiman, they entered into Fragrance Business by establishing another company, CEEAY FRAGRANCE.In 2004, manufacture of PET Containers of various sizes and models was taken up as a joint venture with VISA Group.

In 2013, as a step towards diversification of business, Steel Fabrication in collaboration with Kelath Group was taken up.

Plastic Bottle Manufacturing in 1984, Crockery Business in 1987, Distributorship of many consumer products in 1997, Chemicals in 1998, Packaging Industry in 1998, Perfumes in 1999, PET Bottles in 2004, Polymers in 2005, steel Fabrications in 2013, Hygienical Consumer Products in 2016, ….. The STAR BOTTLES GROUP has made its presence felt in various areas of trading and manufacturing activities.

From a very modest start 50 years ago, the SABCO Group of Enterprises is now having Sixteen establishments that have set a unique standard in all areas of its activity. However, the five brothers have not forgotten the base of the company started by their beloved father, Mr. C.S. Abdul Rahiman …. Simplicity, Trust and strict adherence to business ethics.

SABCO GROUP gives credibility to the saying… “a fist is stronger than five fingers”.

We broke new ground, when the spouses of the five brothers came together to form Sabco Hygienics which manufactures home care and hygienic products. Through the grace of God, the group now provides direct employment to more than 300 people. As conscientious citizens we do our duty and pay Rs. 10 crores as taxes and duties to our nation.

Nexsteel Concepts manufacturing steel prefabricated doors and structures in association with Kelath Group.

Star Light Marketing which distributes products from Mr Butler, Gala Hygenics Products and Bismi Appliances.

Nanopack Industries began operations, producing plastic containers and caps which are supplied to brands like Hindustan Unilever.

We started yet another automated plastic manufacturing unit Star Polymers which provides packaging material to K P Namoothiri’s, Marico-Parachute and Indulekha among other renowned brands. That same year Oasis Trading Company was started with A M Ibrahim. The company distributes the Electronic products and Appliances of companies like Panasonic, TTK Prestige, Polar and Khaitan.

In association with Visa Group we started a very big project to produce PET bottles and containers branded Duropet. It is an ISO 1901 — 2008 company and caters to major manufacturers of Ayurvedic Medicines. Among our customers are Kottakal Arya Vaidyasala, Arya Vaidya Pharmacy (Coimbatore), Vaidyaratnam Oushadhasala, Oushadi and Shanthigiri. In the Food Manufacturing industry Eastern, Double Horse and Kitchen Treasures are some of our prestigious clientele.

That year we diversified into the hospitality business with the launch of Yathri Rest Home, an air-conditioned dormitory style lodging house. That same year we suffered another loss — the demise of our mother Aleema. Saw us plan to expand our footprint in the hospitality business with the launch of Star Park, a private limited company, with relatives and close friends as shareholders. However some legal problems have caused a delay. The legalities have been solved and we expect the inauguration by this year end.

We started a unit Ceeay Fragrances in his blessed memory. It manufactures and exports Agarbathis and perfumes. That year we shifted Star Bottles to our own building also named in our father’s memory — C A Chambers.

The trading business which deals with chemicals used in the detergent and cosmetic industries was shifted to another premises and named Star Chemicals. The same year saw the automation and expansion of the plastic manufacturing unit. It was shifted to our own building and given the name Star Packaging. It manufactures many items such as droppers, bottles and jars for the use of the medical and cosmetic industries. In 1998, in the midst of many achievements we suffered the loss of our beloved father. But before he was gathered into the arms of the Almighty he had fulfilled his dream of having an independent business for each of his five sons.

Starline Agencies was started with his uncle Mr. Thajudeen. It dealt in Electronics, Appliances and Confectioneries; handling Philips, Milton, Prestige, Orient, Cadbury’s etc.

Star Bottles and Glass wares Stores retained its crockery business in the same location under the name Crockery Palace and shifted its other activities to another building nearby.
